Saint Nick (2010)
Also knows as just Saint or Sint this Dutch Christmas fright is highly recommended. I'm a sucker for good lighting and excellent use of color and Saint Nick really delivers! The costuming is fantastic and I'll bet you've never seen Santa like this! Decked out with a wicked staff and upside down crosses on his cloak this undead Santa keeps your eyes fixed to the screen. This movie is overdubbed in english but it does not distract you too much from what is going on. This film blends together action, fantasy, horror and comedy very well and is set in Amsterdam with a great score by the producer Dick Maas. Saint Nick is a retelling of the Scandinavian mythology of Santa who disciplines naughty children by killing them. And to my particularly sensitive horror fiends out there don't get too turned off by the 'black face' element to this movie. Black Pete is a traditional character in the Dutch mythology of Saint Nicholas and if you don't believe me, Google it. This is a fun movie with lots of visual appeal that will bring a sinister grin to any horror fans face. Kvlt, New Classic
Rare Exports (2010)
Another visually captivating horror fantasy set in Finland with Finnish and English language through out and subtitled in English. Somehow I convinced my wife to watch this with me last year and if you've been following my blog you will know she hates horror. She did however love this movie which is a testament to how amazing and fantastical this film is. The lighting and color are top notch, the story telling is excellent and it's not so much scary as it is suspenseful and spectacular. Rare Exports is like a Disney Christmas movie for horror fans and the end will leave you questioning; what do you do with 200 naked old men when your having a bad year on the ranch? Kvlt, New Classic
